Firstly, we have to start off with this cute wintery proposal before we get to this special evening. On Christmas Eve morning, Lance had arranged for his brother and their good friend Doug to hike up to the top of the mountain behind their house to leave a bottle of champagne and glasses at the top. With absolute blue skies, the morning was too beautiful to pass up a hike. Lance and Heather headed out with their dog Ronin up the snowy mountain. When they arrived at the top, Lance proposed and to celebrate they popped the bottle of champagne. As they were still drinking it on the way down the mountain with Heather being too distracted by her new gorgeous sparkling engagement ring, she didn’t realize all of her family’s vehicles parked down the street outside of their house. Lance surprised Heather by planning everyone to arrive before they had gotten back from the mountain hike. They walked into the door with all of Heather’s family/close friends waiting to surprise them and celebrate! Since then they have been planning their special wedding day in April at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa.
Which brings us to their engagement session! They wanted to capture it in the summer time to emulate the hot sunny weather they’ll have for the wedding day. We simply chose a beautiful sunny Okanagan evening, and captured the exact things they love to do on a daily basis around their gorgeous home in Lake Country. We took out the cruiser bikes along the Okanagan Centre road for a cruise with Ronin. With the sun gleaming through the trees, we headed down the road towards the stunning Ex Nihilo Winery. We strolled through the vineyard and made our way inside for an amazing wine tasting with Nina (Thank you!) We couldn’t help but purchase a bottle for our next stop at Kaloya Park. Laying back, sharing lovely wine, and being surrounding by the gorgeous blue waters of Kal lake was nothing shy of stellar. They had brought along a Hibiscus flower from a plant at home which grows all over Hawaii so they could have a piece of their soon to be wedding day with them at the engagement session. Lastly, having a love for fishing, Lance set up his fly fishing rod and ended the evening off with a relaxed cast into the blue.
It truly couldn’t have been a better way to spend an evening, showing the Okanagan lifestyle at its finest along with the absolute bright love between you both. Thank you so much for choosing me to capture it all!
